LG webOS 디즈니 - LG webOS dijeuni

Whether you’re a die-hard Marvel fan or a live-action Disney classics are a family favourite, Disney’s new app has something for everyone.

Disney+ was officially available to download in the US in late 2019, however, the UK had to wait a little longer until March 2020.

For anyone with a Smart TV, you’d assume that, with modern technology, the Disney+ app would be very simple to download and use. However, it seems that it’s not so straightforward for some LG TV owners.

So, let’s see how to get Disney Plus on an older LG Smart TV.

Disney+ not in LG Content Store

Any LG TV owners will be familiar with the device’s Content Store. This is where any additional apps can be installed from.

Naturally, when looking to get the Disney+ app, LG TV users would head to the Content Store, but on arrival at the Store, there’s no Disney+ app to be seen.

Unfortunately, if your TV was made after 2016 and doesn’t run on WebOS 3.0, then you won’t be able to install Disney+ from the LG Content Store.

However, if you have a model made in 2016 onwards with WebOS 3.0, you will be able to access Disney+ in the Store. Any LG TVs made in 2020 have the Disney+ app conveniently integrated into the WebOS.

How to get Disney Plus on my older LG Smart TV

Unfortunately, Disney+ is not available on older Smart TVs. If the TV is more than three years old, it simply isn’t compatible.

To gain access to Disney+ and stream all the Marvel, Pixar and Disney content it has to offer, thankfully, there is a workaround.

You’ll need to make a one-off purchase for a Smart TV sticks such as an Amazon Firestick or Roku device. Alternatively, there’s the Fire TV Cube, Google Chromecast, or Apple TV.

With any of these devices, you can download the Disney+ app and have full access to the app. The only thing you’ll need to subscribe to is the Diney+ app, while the device you decide on buying will involve a one-off payment.

View these streaming devices that go well with HDMI input TVs:

  • Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K
  • Roku Express HD Streaming Media Player
  • Fire TV Cube 4K
  • Google Chromecast 3rd Generation
  • Apple TV 4K (32GB)

Will Disney plus be on LG Smart TV?

It’s obviously disappointing that Disney+ content isn’t accessible on Smart TVs made prior to 2016.

By the looks of things, Disney+ probably won’t expand to older LG TVs any time soon. If you’re unsure what model of LG TV you have, please follow the steps below using your LG TV remote control.

Settings > All Settings > General > About This TV > TV information see the model number listed.

The app is available on a variety of platforms from Xbox to Android phones and devices, so using a Smart TV device is probably the best way forward at this time.
