The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare the incidence of pelvic deviation between women soccer players (n=25, Athletic Group) and age-matched high school women students (n=25, Control Group). Pelvic deviation was measured by Gonstead method with roentgenogram.As a result, ilium length in dominant leg side, ilium width and sacral width in non-dominant leg side were larger than those in opposite side in athletic group. And ilium length in dominant leg side and ilium width in non-dominant leg side were significantly different between two groups (p<.05). The ratio of normal : ilium posterior inferior & anterior superior deviation was 16 : 84% in athlete group, and 28 : 72% in control group. The ratio of normal : ilium internal & external rotational deviation was 8 : 92% in athlete group, and 32 : 68% in control group (χ2=10.107, p< .01). In conclusion, the characteristic of pelvic deviation in women soccer players was ilium posterior inferior and external rotational deviation, and sacral anterior inferior deviation in dominant leg side. It was suggested that the individual therapy with regard to pelvic deviation should be practiced. In addition, stretching program before and after exercise for balancing both legs and pelvis as well as muscular strengthening program for leg and hip joint in non-dominant leg side should be recommended.
